http://www.advancednutrients.com/newsletter — avocado99 learned all his hydroponics secrets from this newsletter and so can you! He is dedicated to spreading the gospel of hydroponics in order to provide the world with cleaner, healthier, more efficient ways of growing our food. A smaller carbon footprint than conventional agriculture, hydroponic greenhouses are located closer to the consumer, so no need for air transportation and shorter distances for ground transportation. Growing plants using hydroponics is a great deal of creative fun to boot!

My work as a consultant means that I spend a lot of time in the Philippines (9 to 10 months a year) I have noticed that the quality of leeks available at the local supermarkets is really bad (I like leeks!) The quality leeks come from Australia and therefore, they are very expensive. A close friend owns a considerable amount of land currently used for growing rice, and she was asking if there could be better ways of using the land to get a better return. That’s how hyroponics came up closely followed by leeks. Given the ambient temperature in the Philippines, which is in the high 20C range and often up to the low 30Cs, never falling below 25C even at night, would growing leeks using hydroponics be feasible? We’ll worry about the marketing and sales later!
